Fr. 30. 1880 $1 Legal Tender Note. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58.

Fr. 30. 1880 $1 Legal Tender Note. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58. A tough Friedberg Number compared to most iterations of this design that lingered through the 1920s. This lightly handled $1 Legal Tender Note issued under the Series of 1880 represents the second signature combination for this long-lived series imprint that was abruptly discontinued for the $1 denomination during the 1890s and offers a rather pleasing sight to behold. Here the reddish-brown Treasury overprint offers a fine contrast against the engraved balance of the design including Ourdan's Columbus in Sight of Land and the left-facing portrait of Washington that was first introduced in the 1860s making this the perfect piece for the collector looking to build an impressive set of quality $1 Legal Tender Notes. Estimate: $800 - $1,200. Click here for certification details from PMG.
