Folding screen - Kanazawa Gold Leaf (金沢箔) - Japan

Magnificent and large traditional Japanese six-panel miniature screen (Rokubuchi Byōbu), dating from the end of the Shōwa era (circa 1975-1990). This exceptional piece stands out for its craftsmanship quality and certified authenticity. Presence on the back of the official golden State label « Nihon Dentō Kōgeihin » (日本伝統工芸品), a highly regulated label that certifies traditional Japanese craft objects made according to age-old methods. Kanazawa Gold Leaf: The official label confirms the provenance of the gilding: « Kanazawa Haku » (金沢箔). The inner panels of this Kin-byōbu are covered with genuine gold leaf manually applied by hand, as evidenced by the delicate square joint lines visible in the light. Fine craftsmanship finishes: The inner borders are accentuated by stunning red and gold silk brocade braids (Kire). The corners and hinges are protected by gilded metal fittings (Kanamono) bearing traditional motifs of stylized chrysanthemums. The reverse (back panel) is elegantly clad in black fabric adorned with a geometric motif of white rosettes. Important dimensions: Height 55 cm for a total unfolded width of 113 cm.
