The exciting tale of the mystery involving Ajaz, the spirited Arabian import who bore certain markings branding him as a Shukaili, or bad luck horse, and of a boy who deeply loved horses - Arabian horses in particular because of his earlier memories and associations. An accident en route, then the burning of the stud farm stables the night of his arrival, gave Ajax sudden notoriety in his new home, a quiet Maine town. But Roger Daniels, who had spent twelve of his sixteen years in Arabia, championed the seemingly unconquerable horse, explaining the groundlessness of the old desert superstition.
