Fireplace accessory - Antique French cast-iron fireplace...

Add a touch of historic European charm to your home with this magnificent pair of antique French figural andirons (*chenets*). These pieces are cast from heavy, solid iron. Dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, these traditional fireplace accessories feature a stunning, authentic patina and deep oxidation marks that accentuate their expressive, sculptural texture. Their hollow bases and substantial construction are a testament to the fine craftsmanship of early European iron founders. Originally designed to elevate firewood off the hearth and facilitate airflow, these pieces can be used in a variety of ways today thanks to their unique proportions. They make a striking decorative statement in an unused fireplace, serve as substantial industrial-style bookends, or act as distinctive doorstops—suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
