Wooden figural amulet from Yapen Island, Geelvink Bay, now known as Cenderawasih Bay, West Papua. Used as a charm. Carved from a single piece of wood, the figure features an elongated head, a prominent nose and angular facial details. Closely spaced horizontal grooves decorate the rounded upper part of the head. The compact body has bent arms indicated in relief and rests on a broad, rounded base. The surface has a dark finish with areas of lighter exposed wood, particularly on the face and body. Visible wear, small surface irregularities and a split near the neck give the carving a distinctive appearance. Please examine the photograph for details of its condition.
