Second edition, entirely revised and increased by two-thirds, of this important French treatise on legal medicine from the early 19th century. The work deals notably with forensic medicine, hygiene and public health, poisonings, diseases, mortality, madness, suicide, marriage, pregnancy and childbirth, infanticide, injuries, examination of corpses, and various medico-legal questions related to the Empire's legislation. Volume I is illustrated with a portrait engraved of François-Emmanuel Fodéré and contains fold-out plates. Volume VI ends with an important general table of contents. Pagination according to the edition: Vol. I: LXXXIV + 502 p.; Vol. II: 492 p.; Vol. III: 483 p.; Vol. IV: 526 p.; Vol. V: 502 p.; Vol. VI: 606 p. Condition: a homogeneous set of more than 210 years old. Bindings showing signs of wear and some rubbing. Interiors generally well preserved, with foxing and small scattered marks visible in the photographs. Some creases to the fold-out plates. The title pages are well preserved.
