Exceptional Double Coronocephalus Trilobite - Fossilised...

A highly attractive and unusual fossil specimen featuring two Coronocephalus trilobites preserved together within the same matrix, accompanied by the corresponding positive and negative counterpart slabs. When the original sedimentary rock was split along the fossil-bearing layer, both complementary surfaces were preserved. This allows the collector to observe the fossil assemblage from both sides: one slab showing the positive relief and the matching counterpart preserving the corresponding negative impressions. What makes this specimen particularly interesting is the presence of two individual Coronocephalus trilobites within the same fossil-bearing piece, creating a much more distinctive and visually impressive composition than a standard single specimen. The trilobites display clearly visible anatomical features, including the segmented thorax, axial structure and pygidium, together with the characteristic lateral extensions of the genus. Their warm orange-brown coloration contrasts beautifully with the dark grey sedimentary matrix. Species / attribution: Coronocephalus sp. Number of trilobites: 2 individuals Specimen type: Positive & negative natural counterpart pair Period: Silurian Age: approximately 420–440 million years Material: Fossil in sedimentary matrix Origin: China Number of matrix pieces: 2 matching counterparts The preservation of both counterpart slabs, combined with two trilobites in the same original matrix, makes this an especially interesting specimen for collectors, educational displays and natural history collections. The photographs form an integral part of the description and show the actual condition, preservation, natural fractures and matrix of the specimen. The fossil will be carefully packed for secure shipment.
