EUROPEAN CELTIC BRONZE SWORD WITH EAR-SHAPED POMMEL

Ca. 600 - 400 BC. A cast bronze sword with a long, narrow blade tapering steadily to a pointed terminal. The blade rises into a pronounced guard with horizontally extended crescentic arms. The flattened grip bears three circular bosses arranged vertically, probably recalling structural rivets or ornamental fittings. A large bifurcated ear-shaped pommel with a central boss completes the hilt. The surface displays dark-brown oxidation and green mineral patination.
