Eska Kayser (1936) - Les Ziaux d’Estanchelle

Superb and important mixed-media work by French school artist Eska Kayser (born 1936), titled on the back « Les Ziaux d'Estanchelle ». Former pupil of the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris and laureate of the prestigious Grand Prix de Rome in 1963, Eska Kayser delivers here a powerful intellectual and poetic work. The title inscribed on the canvas directly echoes the literary universe of Raymond Queneau and his famous collection Les Ziaux (1943). This 50 × 70 cm format features her famous "face-landscapes", fragmented figures interwoven in a subtle palette of earthy tones and ochres, enhanced by blue graphic lines and white textured reliefs. Attention: The rough-textured effect, the superimpositions and the apparent gaps are entirely deliberate: they embody the artist's technical signature, who sculpts the surface to reveal the layers of the human psyche and to let painting and poetry converse. The work is presented in its natural wooden frame and bears the artist's handwritten inscriptions on the back, guaranteeing its perfect authenticity. A highly collectible piece for lovers of French modern art and artistic correspondences.
