Title: Summer Afternoon ㅤ School: Spanish Impressionist School (20th century) ㅤ Style: Landscape Impressionism ㅤ Technique: Oil on panel ㅤ Condition: Generally good state of conservation. The work dated in 1956 and signed in the lower right corner. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: The composition is close to mid-20th-century Spanish landscape painting, especially to those painters who maintained an Impressionist tradition based on painting en plein air, the capture of luminosity, and the spontaneous interpretation of small rural cores. The brushwork and treatment of the architectures also show a certain connection with Mediterranean and Catalan landscape painting. ㅤ The painting represents a small rural set formed by different stone houses and reddish roofs, presided in the background by a building with a tower. The path on the left introduces the viewer to the scene, while a small human figure animates the composition and reinforces its scale. ㅤ Vegetation occupies a large part of the foreground and is resolved with quick brushstrokes of greens, yellows and earth tones. The façades present warm and luminous tones, while the blue sky chromatically balances the whole. The application of oil is visible and direct, giving texture to walls, roofs and vegetative areas. ㅤ The work is presented with a wooden frame painted white, with a wide, stepped molding, of simple and classical design that emphasizes the luminosity of the composition. ㅤ Observations: The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging.
