Escuela Fauvista (XX) - Prado Multicolor

Title: Multicolored Landscape ㅤ School: European Fauvist School (20th century) ㅤ Style: Fauvism and post-impressionist landscape painting ㅤ Technique: Oil on canvas ㅤ Condition: Good overall state of conservation, with slight signs of age throughout the framed piece. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: ㅤ The composition is framed within the European Fauvist and post-impressionist trends of the 20th century, characterized by the emancipation of color from naturalistic representation and the simplification of forms. ㅤ Influences related to Henri Matisse, André Derain, and Maurice de Vlaminck are recognized, especially for the use of intense and contrasted tones to build the landscape. The arrangement of trees, the decorative treatment of the terrain, and the Mediterranean architecture also show affinities with the landscape interpretations developed by artists close to the French Fauvist movement. ㅤ The work represents a rural landscape of Mediterranean character, dominated by a small group of white buildings situated on a reddish elevated terrain. The architecture, composed of several buildings and a central tower, stands out against a blue-tinged and violet mountainous background. ㅤ The foreground is occupied by a succession of fields and roads in strong colors, where yellows, ochres, pinks, oranges, and violets are combined. On this surface appear numerous trees with rounded canopies, executed with blue, green, and turquoise brushstrokes that contrast with the warmth of the ground. ㅤ The composition uses a simplified perspective and an ornamental distribution of elements, giving the landscape an almost decorative character. The distant mountains are represented by large color fields, while the trees and shrubs feature an expressive and synthetic treatment. ㅤ The overall effect conveys luminosity and vitality, with a subjective interpretation of nature in which color takes center stage over realistic description. The harmony between warm and cool tones gives the scene a visual personality characteristic of the Fauvist currents. ㅤ Presented in a gold wood frame of a classic style, with stepped moldings and small ornamental relief details. It incorporates a wide light mat that visually separates the composition from the outer frame. Its golden finish adds elegance and enhances the luminosity and chromatic richness of the landscape. ㅤ Observations: ㅤ Fauvist-style work, characterized by its free interpretation of color and simplified forms. ㅤ The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will need photographs of the damage to proceed with compensation.
