St.Martin 92 Asnieres RC Paris Signature on the plate of the artist stamped bottom right: Coulon Vintage advertising poster printed by offset lithography Eric de Coulon (1888-1956) was a Poster Creator, Artist, Illustrator, Graphic Artist, Lithographer. This beautiful poster was created by Éric de Coulon, one of the greatest masters of European travel posters. The first edition is circa 1933 and was lithographically printed by the publisher Le Novateur, Paris. The artist depicts the atmosphere of winter sports in the Alps and Jura. These locations were considered excellent places for skiing and stood for clean air, health and fun. The artist, with this poster, interprets the beauty and the graphic elegance of the 1930s Art Deco. The advertising phrase "Pure air, health, pleasure" promotes a winter full of fun. Thanks to the new PLM railway lines, Paris - Lyon - Méditerranée, in the mid-1930s a great opportunity had been created for the many lovers of French Alpine tourism. The poster shows an orderly group of skiers in period clothing descending the valley. The elongated, rounded and precise shadows, the limited number of colors, emphasize their harmonious movement. The scene evokes old-fashioned skiing but at the same time expresses the modernity of the era's graphics. The work indeed draws on Art Déco (art movement and design developed in Europe in the 1910s-1930s) with the typical characteristics of the era, such as essential and precise lines, symmetry, geometric shapes, elegance and modernity. The vintage design and the crosshatched printing paper give the advertising poster a lived-in feel that is even more interesting and real. A very pleasant poster to the eye and also to the touch. Excellent taste, vintage Dimensions: 80 x 49.5 cm The poster will be carefully rolled in protective paper and placed in a sturdy cardboard tube and will be shipped with UPS or another express courier.
