EGYPTIAN STONE SCARAB WITH QUADRUPED IN SWIVEL GOLD RING

Middle Kingdom, ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A pale stone scarab with a convex back and a flat underside engraved with a stylised quadruped facing right, within an oval border. The scarab is mounted in a hallmarked 18K gold swivel ring with a rounded hoop and terminals bound with tightly coiled gold wire. The stone revolves on a transverse pin within a narrow oval gold frame.
