EDWARD JOSEPH HEAD (BRITISH 1863-1927) PULLING THE NEEPS Oil on canvas Signed and dated '88' (lower right) 49.5 x 75cm (19¼ x 29½in.) Edward Joseph Head studied at Regents Street Polytechnic and Scarborough School of Art under Albert Strange. He exhibited at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool, the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists in London. Head moved to Tenby in the 1890s, where he taught the young Augustus John and encouraged his pupil’s father to allow him to enrol at the Slade School of Fine Art.
