DUO, born in 1981, is a Parisian artist whose early encounter with graffiti dates back to 1991, when he discovered, in his own neighborhood, an intervention by DARCO (FBI), a major figure in European graffiti. This appearance, a true visual shock, marked the starting point of a vocation. From 1998, DUO fully immersed himself in the world of writing, developing a self-taught practice nourished by more than two decades of intensive exploration of lettering. His work is anchored in the purest tradition of graffiti, in constant dialogue with the codes established by New York and European pioneers. His travels across Europe and beyond, undertaken to paint in various urban environments and transit networks, deeply enrich his style and broaden his visual vocabulary. His aesthetic long featured a attachment to the classic style, notably influenced by the New York and Berlin scenes. These graffiti on trains experiences, encounters, and movements gradually built a graphic signature that is both rigorous and energetic. Parallel to this path, DUO’s works began entering the art market in the early 2010s. He participated in several auctions, including a first sales standout at Pierre Bergé & Associés in 2013, attesting to growing collectors’ interest in his work. Today, DUO develops a more experimental and abstract-oriented canvas production, while maintaining the same gestural intensity and the same pursuit of movement that characterized his interventions in the urban space. His painting, now more introspective, extends and transforms the raw energy of graffiti into a contemporary visual language.
