Delicate Burmese Ruby & Diamond Necklace, Chow Tai Fook, Hong Kong, c. 2010

This necklace is delicate yet phenomenal: intense red rubies and white diamonds form a fiery, sparkling row of flowers, whose fine details and perfect workmanship delight with every glance. Rubies are the most precious of all gemstones, next to colored diamonds. And of all rubies, those from Burma are the most sought-after. This is because Burma, today's Myanmar, has always been regarded as the classic origin of the best rubies. For a long time, rubies in Burma were only found in the region around the city of Mogok. In the early 1990s, however, rubies were also discovered 250 km to the south, near the town of Mong Hsu. The necklace presented here contains just such rubies from Mong Hsu, totaling 7.31ct. The quality of the diamonds is equally exquisite. A total of 2.51 ct are set in different cuts. All diamonds are uniform in color, they are graded as Fine White (Top Wesselton, G), and very pure, only stones of the quality if to vsi were processed. All stones are set in high-carat white gold. The necklace comes from the collection of the important jeweller Chow Tai Fook from Hong Kong, one of the largest jewellers in China with a tradition dating back to 1929. We were able to acquire it from the estate of a board member of a southern German company who had purchased it in Hong Kong. It was only created a few years ago and has only been worn a little so far. The necklace comes with two independent expert opinions on the quality of the gemstones.
