Dutch potters perfected a tin-glazing technique that mimicked the white and blue aesthetic of Ming dynasty pottery while incorporating local themes, such as Dutch windmills, sailing ships, and flora. Over the centuries, Delfts Blue became a global symbol of Dutch decorative art and craftsmanship. In the mid-to-late 20th century, regional ceramic workshops throughout the Netherlands continued this hand-painted tradition, crafting functional homeware, such as lamp bases shaped like antique candleholders, to blend centuries, old folk art with contemporary electrical convenience.
