Decorative ornament - Mexico

Splendid and important miniature Mexican collectors hat, made in solid sterling silver 925 in the famous city of Taxco between 1948 and 1979. The piece stands out for its generous size (16 cm in diameter) and for a substantial weight of no less than 152 grams, markedly higher than the classic miniature mementos of the era. The brim is finely bas-relief engraved with the detailed glyphs of the Aztec Calendar (Sun Stone) and decorated with traditional geometric motifs. The edge is finished with a twisted rope work and features the classic decorative cord (barbiquejo) in silver resting on the brim. Authenticity stamps on the bottom: Official tax mark "Eagle 23" (National Mexican Eagle), identifying the historic workshop of Joaquín Tella / Talleres de los Ballesteros in Taxco. Circular mark "HECHO EN MEXICO / STERLING". Purity mark "925". Conditions: Excellent vintage condition. No dents or deep scratches.
