David Law - Multiplicity VII

ew series – Multiplicity David Law Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling presence, almost alive, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection. New series – Multiplicity Multiplicity explores the demultiplication of a feminine silhouette to infinity. Repeated, superimposed and absorbed by backlight, the figures become a moving graphic material. Faces disappear, leaving only bodies, shadows and lines. A hypnotic vision where the individual becomes a multitude.
