A scarce original 1971 UK first pressing of Curtiss Maldoon's self-titled album, issued on the newly established Purple Records label under catalogue number TPS 3501. Purple Records was launched in 1971 by Deep Purple's management and distributed through EMI, with the earliest releases carrying the original "The Gramophone Co. Ltd." perimeter text and representing the first production period of the label. This copy features the original A-1U / B-1U matrix combination, a strong identifier of the earliest UK production. Curtiss Maldoon has become one of the more elusive early Purple Records titles and features an interesting line-up of British musicians, including contributions from Steve Howe and Tony Ashton. The original UK TPS 3501 remains particularly difficult to find, as noted by specialist dealer EIL. ⸻ Sleeve (VG): The original sleeve remains complete and structurally sound but shows clear signs of age and handling. There is visible corner and edge wear, whitening around parts of the perimeter, and some ringwear across the surfaces. Despite the cosmetic wear, the artwork remains complete and the sleeve still presents the album well → VG Vinyl (VG+): The vinyl retains good original gloss. There are a number of visible fine hairlines and superficial signs of previous play across both sides, but importantly none of the marks are feelable.
