Court headdress table 冠卓 (kanmuri’shoku) - Lacquered wood

A two-tiered Wajima lacquer court headdress table 冠卓 (kanmuri’shoku) by Nagai Yukio 長井幸夫 (contemporary). The upper surface depicts an autumn landscape: a thatched house and pine trees on a hillside, with coloured maple leaves emerging among the rocks. Beyond a broad expanse of water, mountain peaks recede into the distance. The lower shelf is decorated with sprays of bellflowers 桔梗 (kikyô) in mother-of-pearl inlay, fringed pinks 撫子 (nadeshiko) and slender susuki 薄 grasses. Both scenes are worked in takamaki-e 高蒔絵 and hiramaki-e 平蒔絵, with shades of gold, coloured accents and sparse nashiji 梨子地 against glossy black lacquer. The side panels have cut-outs in the form of stylised Buddhist flames, and the stand rests on four gently spreading feet. Signed 幸夫 (Yukio) on the lower shelf. Complete with its signed and sealed wooden tomobako 共箱 (storage box). Period: Japan – Shôwa period (1926–1989). Dimensions: Height 25.2 cm; width 54.5 cm; depth 30.3 cm. In very good condition with minimal signs. Please refer to the photographs for a clear impression of the condition. When shipped, a certificate of authenticity will be included.
