Corneille (1922-2010) was a painter and graphic artist who, in the early 1950s, radicalized the conservative Dutch art world. Together with five other influential artists, including Karel Appel and Constant, he founded the post-war European Expressionist movement CoBrA in 1948. Corneille attended drawing and etching courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam from 1940 to 1942, but is generally regarded as an autodidact painter. Initially heavily influenced by Picasso's work, Corneille produced abstract works. From the late 1960s, Corneille's work took on a more figurative character. In this work, birds, women and flowers are often the subject matter. Dimensions of the work: 22 x 30 cm Dimensions of the work with frame: 47 x 40 Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house picture framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary.
