With pieces exhibited in the Victoria and Albert Museum, Halls designs are described by the Manchester Art Gallery as “superbly tailored and yet imaginative”. He became known for his vibrant colours and patterns with a diverse range of fabrics including satin, velvet, leather and denim that he still uses to produce garments today. This trademark flair can be observed in Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin’s ivory, painted satin suit. The ensemble was decorated with Egyptian symbols including the “Eye of Thoth” and “Nut, Goddess of the sky” to reflect Page’s interest in the occult. While also producing ready to wear clothes, Malcolm Hall’s other celebrity clients included The Rolling Stones, ABBA, Diana Ross and David Bowie.
