Mallos was an important city of ancient Cilicia, situated near the mouth of the Pyramos River in southern Anatolia. Tradition attributed its foundation to the legendary seers Mopsos and Amphilochos. Its riverine position supported trade and strategic importance, while its distinctive silver coinage reflects a blend of Greek and Anatolian traditions. Mallos later came under Persian, Macedonian, Seleucid and Roman rule.
