Chair - Hardwood - Gondola chair.

Gondola chair with armrests, in CarloX-Biedermeier style, datable to the first half of the 19th century. It was used as a bidet before bathrooms entered homes. Under the seat, which lifts to reveal a lid, there is a hole where a ceramic or enameled metal vessel was inserted. When closed it is a normal lounge chair; when opened it becomes a toilet. Viewings available by appointment in Bari.
