Official Caran d’Ache reference: 5092.052. This is not a standard Caran d’Ache fountain pen, but a limited edition, individually numbered to only 888 pieces in the world. The choice of 888 pieces is not random: in Chinese culture the number 8 is considered particularly lucky and Caran d’Ache identifies 888 as a symbol of ultimate balance. The pen is made of brass coated with authentic black Chinese lacquer, polished, on which emerges the representation of the Monkey in yellow Chinese lacquer, accompanied by the calligraphic character for Monkey and the distinctive red Caran d’Ache Chinese seal. The fittings, clip and push button are gold-plated. The grip section is also gold-plated and bears additional inscriptions dedicated to the Monkey. Completing the fountain pen is a prestigious 18-carat yellow gold nib (18C – 750), size M, hand-polished and custom Caran d’Ache. The pen is perfectly functional.
