Candelabrum - Brass, Bronze

I am offering for sale this very beautiful antique four-light candelabrum, of striking presence and richly decorated. Piece in neo-Renaissance / historicist style, characteristic of the 19th century, Napoleonic / Second Empire era, with especially elaborated decoration. The candelabrum rests on an architectural three-lobed base, adorned with heads of fantastical chimeras, with numerous sculpted details: acanthus, palmettes, volutes, scrolls and botanical motifs. The creatures notably display small red color details at the mouth area, giving the whole piece a lot of character. It has three lights curving around a central flame, i.e., four lights in total. The cups are pierced, allowing in particular the possible passage of wiring and thus a potential future electrification. However, the candelabrum is currently not electrified and is presented in its candle-holder configuration. The surface shows a very deep old brown patina with gilded highlights, as well as areas revealing traces of verdigris oxidation. The metal seems to be probably bronze or old brass (I prefer to retain this wording rather than asserting a composition without metallurgical analysis.) * Height: 47 cm * Maximum diameter / width: 35 cm * Weight: about 3.45 kg * 4 lights * Not electrified No signature or foundry mark identified to date. A very beautiful decorative piece, imposing without being excessive, which will easily find its place on a fireplace, a console, or at the center of a large table. Antique item sold as is, with its patina and normal signs of age.
