C.S.B. – Ceramiche San Bernardino

Fascinating large polychrome maiolica urn with a lid, made by C.S.B. – Ceramiche San Bernardino dell’Aquila and attributed to Master Fausto Mastrantonio. C.S.B. belongs to the history of Aquilano artistic ceramics of the twentieth century, an Italian production today sought after for its strongly artisanal character and for its lively hand-painted decorations. This specimen, about 35 cm tall, stands out for the richness of floral and geometric motifs and for its intense Mediterranean colors: yellow, green, blue and brown. The substantial form, with a shaped foot and large lid, makes it a piece with a strong decorative presence. On the base it bears the painted mark “C.S.B. L’Aquila”, evidence of its origin. An authentic piece of Italian artistic craftsmanship of the twentieth century, ideal for a collection of Italian ceramics or as a focal element in a Mediterranean interior.
