全部拍賣 / Ethnographic / Butterfly Taxidermy full body mount - Epiphora mythimnia (Westwood

Butterfly cabinet 18 cm by 27 cm with 5.5 cm depth, with a hook for hanging. The cabinet contains several mounted butterflies, whose scientific name and distribution range are noted on a label beneath the butterfly. The butterfly in the top center is Epiphora mythimnia (Westwood, 1849) from Kenya. It is a fairly rare Saturniidae species that is offered very infrequently. All Epiphora species are also quite difficult to breed! The chrysalises of this butterfly come from reputable breeders such as the Kipepeo Butterfly Project, located on the Kenyan coast near the Arabuko Sokoke Forest. Kipepeo is Swahili for butterfly! This is a community project where local farmers breed butterfly chrysalises for export worldwide and, founded in 1993, to provide the local population with a sustainable income (from, among other things, butterflies and honey), thereby countering deforestation and poaching in the Arabuko Sokoke Forest and increasing butterfly populations because they must repeatedly release part of their cultivated stock back into the protected forest. The butterfly at the bottom center is Papilio rumanzovia from the Philippines. Also Papilio anchisiades from Central America. These chrysalises or butterflies also come from reputable breeders. Nymphalis polychloros, Noctua orbona, Dichagyris vallesiaca and Chersotis margaritacea are interesting European butterflies.
