A major monograph on Domínikos Theotokópoulos, known as El Greco (1541–1614), by Léo Bronstein, professor of art history at Brandeis University. Among the works reproduced is notably *The Assumption of the Virgin* from 1577, now in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
