Bouilotte lamp - Empire Style Bouillotte - Double Flame - Swans - Gilt bronze

Magnificent bouillotte lamp by Lucien Gau, Empire style in gilded and patinated bronze, finely chased, with a double flame and a motif of triumphant swans, dating from the late 19th century. Its metal lampshade is original and its height is adjustable. Originally, this lamp was designed as an accessory for a card game, from which it derives its name: bouillotte. The "bouillotte game" was popular in France, notably during the French Revolution, a French card game that appeared in the 18th century and was based on three of a kind. This luxurious lamp will bring a touch of French chic and elegance to any interior. Its electrical system has presumably been altered by its former owner. Good condition with signs of wear and use due to its age; please see photos.
