Bookends (2) - Brass - Horse head bookend

Beautiful and characterful pair of vintage bookends shaped like stylized horse heads. These heavy, solid-brass objects are executed in an elegant Art Deco / Mid-Century Modern style. The clean, geometric lines of the base combined with the powerful form of the horse heads make this a timeless decorative duo. Such objects in the period 1950-1970 (probable origins France or Korea) bestowed libraries, study rooms, and executive desks with a healthy dose of class, and are still highly sought-after design pieces today. The bookends are in a nice vintage condition with a splendid lived patina. This gives the objects their authentic, historic appearance. For those who wish, they can of course be polished to a shiny finish.
