全部拍賣 / Books, Maps & Manuscripts / Bergier Nicolas Sylvain - Le Déisme réfuté par lui-Même...
Rare edition of this apologetic and polemical text that sits within the religious and philosophical debates of the 18th century, particularly in the controversies sparked by deism, religious skepticism, and certain conceptions attributed to Jean-Jacques Rousseau - "Deism Refuted by Itself" is a work that represents a response to the ideas and principles of unbelief spread in the writings of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, one of the major thinkers of the Enlightenment. Deism, which advocates belief in God based on reason rather than revelation, was an important subject of debate at the time - Bergier strives to refute Rousseau's deist principles, arguing that deism, when pushed to extremes, leads to disbelief. This polemic reflects the intellectual and religious tensions of the eighteenth century in France, where new ideas and old beliefs were in conflict - Bergier Nicolas Sylvain - Le Déisme Réfuté Par Lui-Même ou examen des principes d'incrédulité répandus dans les divers ouvrages de M.
