Belgium 1979/1858 - Belgium 1858–1979 - Stamp collection...

Collection of Belgian stamps in two specialized DAVO albums “Belgium/Belgique”. The albums cover the period from the first Belgian issues in the nineteenth century up to 1979. The album pages begin in 1849, while the oldest actually present stamps date from 1858–1861. The collection includes, among other things, early stamps featuring portraits of Belgian rulers, ordinary postage stamps, commemorative stamps and issues with subjects such as Belgian history, architecture, art, aviation, the royal family and various jubilees. At the end of the collection is the commemorative pane “Millennium of Brussels” from 1979. The two albums together contain about 150 specialized album leaves. The collection is not complete: some sections are filled and others are empty. The stamps present are mostly postmarked. All leaves of both albums and the full contents are shown in the photographs. The photos form an important part of the description and give a clear view of the collection’s completeness and condition. The stamps have not been individually checked for catalog number, variety, watermark, perforation or quality. The albums are equipped with black clamp strips and transparent protective strips. The condition of the stamps varies and is consistent with their age. There may be signs of wear, perforation faults, spots, small creases and other signs of aging. The album covers and leaves show normal signs of storage and use. The full collection is sold including both DAVO albums.
