An exclusive set for lovers of special natural artworks – decorative, powerful, and full of history. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind; together they form a harmonious ensemble with impressive presence. Stone: Extraordinary Quartz, hand-polished petrified wood Weight: 2060.37 g Treatment: None Origin: Madagascar The lots were photographed under professional lights. Please note that the colours might differ depending on the monitor settings and light source. It is fossil wood dating back 200 million years; all parts from a log or branches have silicified, meaning that organic components were gradually replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call petrified wood in common language.
