Signature of the Queen Regent of Spain, Marie Christine of Habsburg-Lorraine, on behalf of her minor son Alfonso XIII. Dated at the Palace in July 1899. A precious original document from the period with the King's embossed seal and a paraphed signature "I, the Queen Regent." Don Alfonso XIII, by the grace of God, Constitutional King of Spain, and in his name during his minority the Queen Regent of the Realm. Marie Christine of Habsburg-Lorraine, mother of Alfonso XIII, was the Queen Regent of Spain for nearly 17 years, from 26 November 1885 to 17 May 1902. She assumed the regency after the death of her husband, King Alfonso XII, and governed until her son reached the age of majority at 16 years old. On the date of this document, Alfonso XIII was 13 years old. Marie Christine of Habsburg-Lorraine secured stability after the death of Alfonso XII, consolidating the Bourbon Restoration and steering the country through the 1898 crisis. She guaranteed the transition of the throne to her son, Alfonso XIII, who was born king, since his mother was pregnant at the time of Alfonso XII's death. Complete document and in good condition.
