Splendid and refined pair of medallion-back chairs in full Louis XVI style, dating from the late 19th century (late Eclectic/Napoleonic III period). The seats are presented in excellent preserved condition, both structurally and aesthetically, with no need for any restoration work. Characteristics and construction details: Era: Late '800 (19th Century). Structure: Made of noble wood (beech/walnut) with warm natural tones and a splendid original patina of time. Fine details: The fittings above the legs feature floral-motif knobs entirely hand-carved (the fascinating and authentic asymmetries of the period's handcrafted work are evident). The legs are fluted conical trunks, typical of Neoclassicism. Wood condition: Perfectly solid, joints stable and full absence of structural lesions. Upholstery: Covered in a sumptuous damask/embossed fabric in gold and yellow tones with glossy floral weaves. The fabric is intact, clean, free of stains or tears. Conservation/restoration: The chairs have previously undergone a restoration of the seat bottom carried out to artful standards, maintaining the perimeter nail studding as per nineteenth-century tradition. Dimensions: Height 88 cm, Width 57 cm, Depth 50 cm, Seat height 42 cm. Pickup by the purchaser or shipping to be arranged.
