Antonio Saura (1930-1998) - Kafka

Lithograph with edition justification - edition of 300 - 1988 Dimensions: 40 x 30 cm with the mat Condition: in good condition Publisher: Manus presse Very good condition Careful packaging and international registered shipping Frame not included As a prominent figure of European Art Informel and the Spanish El Paso group, Antonio Saura shares a deep aesthetic and thematic lineage with the world's most sought-after blue-chip artists—such as Francis Bacon, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Yayoi Kusama, Manolo Valdes, Willem de Kooning, Georg Baselitz, and Jean-Michel Basquiat—who dominate the top tier of the global art market. Through his visceral, monochromatic palette, violent gestural brushwork, and distorted reinterpretation of the human figure, Saura channeled existential angst and historical trauma in a manner that mirrors the raw emotional intensity and groundbreaking mark-making celebrated across the works of these top-valued masters. By stripping form down to its primal, expressive essence while maintaining a profound dialogue with art history, Saura’s practice sits firmly within the same canon of radical postwar abstraction and figurative expressionism that continues to define the pinnacle of modern and contemporary art collecting today.
