全部拍賣 / Ethnographic / Antique Indonesian grinding stone mill table (120 cm)...
Monumental Antique Indonesian Hand Mill (Gilingan Batu) on Solid Trough Table – Coffee Table / Wabi-Sabi – 120 cm A remarkably characterful and monumental piece of folk art from Indonesia (Bali/Java). This antique hand mill, locally known as Gilingan Batu, is completely intact and in a beautiful, authentic condition. The object was traditionally used in the countryside for artisanal grinding of grain, maize, or coffee beans. The set consists of the two original, hand-carved millstones (the runner and the bedstone), made from locally volcanic rock. The inner surfaces of the stones display the splendid, deeply incised radial grooves that pushed the ground product toward the outer edge. The top stone features the original side hole where the wooden handle was once attached. The stones rest in an impressive, heavy trough table carved by hand from a single solid piece of tropical hard wood (monoxyl). The wood has developed a fantastic, deep, well-worn patina over the decades. The whole sits on a robust, authentic base with primitively set legs. With its generous length of 120 cm and depth of 70 cm, this unusually large specimen is not only a museum-worthy centerpiece but also perfectly functional as a unique coffee table or a striking focal point in a high-end Wabi-Sabi, minimalist, or country interior. Specifications: Origin: Indonesia (Bali / Java) Period: 19th century / early 20th century Material: Tropical hard wood & volcanic rock (basalt/granite) Length: 120 cm Depth: 70 cm Weight: ca. 75 kg Condition: In very good, original antique condition with a beautifully lived patina and historic character. Wear in keeping with age and intensive artisanal use (see detail photos). Due to the monumental size and weight (75 kg), this object is shipped exclusively on a pallet. To guarantee safe shipping, the legs are disassembled. All parts (the wooden tabletop and the loose millstones) are individually and meticulously wrapped in thick layers of bubble wrap, protective foam, and sturdy carton. The shipment is fully insured and delivered door-to-door. Countries outside the EU & Islands: We apply the most fair and transparent shipping rates possible. If the actual shipping costs to specific islands or destinations outside the EU happen to be higher than budgeted, we will contact you with a revised quote. In that case, both the buyer and the seller always have the right to cancel the transaction at no cost. P.S. The first and last photo were created with the help of AI.
