Tignanello, first made by the Marchesi Antinori in 1971, is one of the original Super Tuscans, the wine that broke with tradition by blending Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and ageing it in French barrique. From the Tignanello vineyard in the hills of Chianti Classico, it is one of Italy's most celebrated reds. 2016 is one of the greatest modern Tuscan vintages, and this Tignanello is rated among the finest the estate has made. Antonio Galloni from Vinous gave it a rating of 98, Monica Larner from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave it 97, and Richard Hemming MW gave it 18+ out of 20.
