全部拍賣 / Books, Maps & Manuscripts / Anonyme - L'Office de l'Eglise - plein maroquin doublé de BOYET - 1700
The Office of the Church in Latin & in French - Paris, LePetit, Angot & de Hansy, 1700 - [44], 124; 589, [3] - full morocco bound double from the period - in-8 (21.8 x 14.5 cm). Binding in full red morocco, lined with olive morocco, gilt edges on marbled sheets, spine slightly cracked, small split at the head of the upper spine, one headband shaved, handsome paper somewhat yellowed. Magnificent work in its exceptional period binding. New edition of this work, adorned with three beautiful engravings, in a sumptuous period binding typical of Luc-Antoine Boyet. The way the leather is treated, the leather on the inside facing a blank page, the lace-like decorations and the stars on the spine are typical of this great binder, probably the greatest French binder of his era.
