ROMAN GLASS FLASK Spherical-bodied vase, the body adorned with five circular depressions at mid-height, a tall, smooth neck tightened at the base to form a dropper-like system, with a large flared lip curled inward. The vase displays a significant iridescence with silver and violet reflections, giving it a certain charm. Dating: 2nd/4th century AD, Dimensions: height 8.3 cm - width 5.4 cm Perfect condition - totally intact Provenance: Germany, M.R.S. gallery Previously: Ex coll. Carl Anton Niessen (1830-1934), collector and major donor to the Cologne Museum Glass was precious in Roman times, used mainly for perfumes and for adornment. The vase is covered with an iridescent layer with multiple reflections, attesting to its antiquity.. The seller can prove that the lot was obtained legally, provenance statement viewed by Catawiki.
