Ancient Roman

Roman bronze ornamental appliqué with a central button — I–II centuries AD. Proposed period: Roman Empire. Material: Bronze. Typology: Circular ornamental appliqué with a rear mounting system. An interesting circular bronze appliqué, characterized by an elegant design of raised concentric circles, arranged around a prominent central button with a flat termination. The composition features a carefully defined exterior rim and a slightly concave surface, which accentuates the volume of the central element. On the reverse, it preserves traces of the old mounting system, typical of metal fittings used to ornament wooden surfaces, furniture and other structures. The piece displays an attractive green and brown patina, with mineral deposits, wear and signs of age. Condition: Good integrity of the disk and its decoration, with deterioration of the rear mounting element. An interesting example of small-scale ornamental metalworking from Roman tradition, especially attractive for its geometric balance and its preservation.
