AN OTTOMAN STEEL DAGGER WITH GOLD-INLAID ARABIC INSCRIPTIONS AND DECORATED

Ca. AD 1700�1800 A Turkish dagger with a blade decorated with two cartouches with Arabic inscriptions made with gold inlay at the ricasso one on each side. The script reads as follows: NO FIGHT (SKIRMISH) __ ____ and I DO IT ONLY FOR YOUR SAKE O ALLAH ___ __ ___ ____ __ ___. The grip scales are made of polished horn, the scabbard is constructed of wood covered with red velvet (original) and fitted with hand-hammered brass furniture.
