Important French dermatology treatise of the 19th century by Alphonse Devergie, physician at Saint-Louis Hospital, associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Paris, and member of the Imperial Academy of Medicine. A substantial volume comprising 788 pages, followed notably by an important alphabetical index. The work is particularly remarkable for its Atlas devoted to diseases of the skin, preserved with the copy and preceded by the “Explanation of the plates.” It includes large folding plates, some printed in color, presenting numerous dermatological representations: eczema, impetigo, psoriasis, lupus, syphilis and various skin conditions, as well as anatomical and microscopic representations. The color plates are especially spectacular and constitute one of the main interests of this 19th-century medical work. Condition: very good overall. Rebinding from later period, solid and clean, half-binding with a garnet spine bearing the author’s name and the title in gold. Interior particularly fresh and clean, paper well preserved and print clear. Some small marks or freckles normal for the age. The large folding plates are well preserved with their original folds; the colors remain fresh and clearly visible. Some small stains and marks may be observed on certain plates, in accordance with the photographs. An especially interesting copy due to the presence of its illustrated atlas in color, which accompanies the treatise. The photographs are an integral part of the description.
