全部拍賣 / Contemporary Art / Alessio Mazzarulli - San Francesco - 800 anni (n.733) - Dot Art Series
San Francesco - 800 years (no. 733) - Dot Art Series The measurements are: - Dot Art: 50.00 x 40.00 cm - Dot Art + frame: 56.70 x 46.70 cm; thickness 2.50 cm Epoxy resin on painted wooden discs (mixed media) Framed, ready to hang This work is a new publication of the Dot Art series. It was created by painting 357 (21x17) small wooden discs with a diameter of 2.00 cm each. This piece is a homage to the figure of Saint Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Italy, as this year marks the 800th anniversary since the death of Saint Francis of Assisi, which occurred on October 3, 1226. The Saint’s figure is remembered as a universal symbol of brotherhood, humility, and love for creation. This work is unique and original. Each piece is securely packaged, wrapped and protected for worldwide shipping, including the Certificate of Authenticity. I use the courier directly provided by Catawiki. A shipment tracking number will be provided. This work will be shipped without a frame and without a canvas, as the piece will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the extra surface is useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame. It is advisable to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise on a possible appropriate frame. The images showing the work in interior settings are for illustrative purposes only and the proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description. Different light sources can give different colors to the photos. For more photos and information, please contact me! Thank you. IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS (NON-EU): Customs duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping costs. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the value of the artwork. Born in 1974 I am self-taught. After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long pause lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, leaving sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I am also pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me painting is to "block time" at that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are views of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that over time grow on the surface. The inexorable passage of time is the main theme of my works. Coming from a beautiful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceptible to touch and to the naked eye. In this recent period, after several years during which my works were made from pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor that, when viewed up close, seem to form an abstract colorful picture, but as you move away more a figure portrait made of many painted wooden discs emerges. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not the dolls of their partners and they cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence.
