A fine brocade silk uchikake

An exquisite Japanese uchikake 打ち掛け (wedding kimono), offered in New Old Stock condition. This formal bridal uchikake is crafted from fine silk and richly decorated in an rich array of colours with embroidered cranebirds and many different flowers. The interior is lined with vibrant vermillion silk, while the thickly padded hem, traditionally weighted with cotton, allows the uchikake to drape gracefully when worn or displayed. The kimono is in very good condition and has never been worn or used. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference. Approximate dimensions: Height 200 cm, Width 150 cm. Uchikake are highly formal kimono, traditionally worn by brides over the wedding kimono and obi, functioning almost as an outer robe. They are also used in classical stage performances.
