A CARVED JAPANESE WOOD NETSUKE ANIMAL

1 Large carved and detailed full figured elephant example. Netsukes are a wonderful example of a fastener that the Japanese are known for. They were used on the sash and INRO, (a compartmentalized case on a cord) the Netsuke would accompany what is called an Ojime bead between the Netsuke and the Inro compartment. This beautifully detailed full bodied elephant is a fine example of Japanese carving and in fine condition. Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4".
