The estate itself presents it as a wine that is immediately enjoyable, versatile and convivial, yet capable of maintaining the quality, elegance and oenological attention that characterize Ornellaia’s production. The Ornellaia Territory Le Volte is born in Tuscany, in the Bolgheri area, a territory strongly influenced by the proximity of the Tyrrhenian Sea and particularly suited to cultivating both international grape varieties and traditional Tuscan varieties. The wine comes from the assembly of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, vinified separately to preserve the specific characteristics of each variety. The 2024 vintage According to Ornellaia, 2024 was an early and promising vintage. A first part of the year was mild and rainy, ensuring good water reserves; from the end of June, warmer and sunnier conditions arrived, while some storms in mid-August favored the completion of ripening. Harvest proceeded with a pattern of sunny, cool and occasionally rainy days. The result, the estate says, is a vintage characterized by freshness, balance and high aromatic intensity. Vinification and aging The different varieties are vinified separately in small steel vats, so as to respect their differing characteristics. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation follows, also carried out in steel. The wine then matures for 10 months, partly in barrique previously used for Ornellaia and partly in stainless steel vats. This choice helps to balance tannic structure and fruit freshness, without letting the wood dominate the wine’s character. Organoleptic characteristics Le Volte dell'Ornellaia 2024 presents a brilliant purple color. On the nose, cherry and wild strawberry emerge, accompanied by elegant mentholated hints that add freshness and aromatic depth. On the palate, the entry is soft and pleasant, followed by a well-defined yet delicate and elegant structure. The wine is harmonious, juicy and balanced, with a particularly successful combination of immediacy of drinkability, structure and complexity. The Ornellaia style in a more immediate form Le Volte is especially interesting because it allows approaching the famous estate’s style through a wine conceived to be more immediate and versatile than the flagship labels. Partial maturation in barriques already used for Ornellaia also creates an interesting link with the estate’s symbol wine, while keeping Le Volte centered on fruit freshness and pleasure.
