Pergole Torte 2023 MAGNUM Montevertine The Toscana Rosso IGT "Le Pergole Torte" 2023 is Montevertine’s flagship wine and one of the greatest expressions of Sangiovese overall. Born in 1977 from an intuition of Sergio Manetti, it represents the ultimate synthesis of the winery’s philosophy in Radda in Chianti: to produce a great wine exclusively from Sangiovese, without compromises and outside the regulations of the era. Even today it is made with the best grapes from the most highly regarded plots of the estate, located between 425 and 500 meters in altitude on soils rich in galestro, alberese and arenaria, which give the wine elegance, tension and extraordinary longevity. Since 2002 every vintage is enriched by the iconic female portrait by artist Alberto Manfredi, becoming one of the most recognizable symbols of Italian wine. Harvesting is exclusively manual with careful selection of the grapes. Fermentation happens spontaneously in cement tanks, with about 25 days of maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine ages for 24 months in Slavonian and Allier oak, then completes its maturation with a further bottle aging. Bottling takes place without filtration or clarification, preserving the purity and complexity of Sangiovese in full. The 2023 vintage, characterized by careful grape selection and an excellent balance between ripeness and freshness, once again confirms Le Pergole Torte’s role among Italy’s greatest collectible wines.
